Lake District Camping....In December????

Postby Bogger » Tue Dec 08, 2009 10:29 pm

Camping in December  Oh why not. We had planned it some time ago. It must have been back in Summer  . Us lot in deepest darkest Lancashire do not like to do things the easy way. I can't remember a run out when it wasn't p*****ng down  . So Weekend of the 5 Dec we went camping. Good God it rained. In fact it never stopped. In fact it rained so much we just had to stay in the pub (in the middle of nowhere) till 2 in the morning  . JJ doesn't take a tent, he has a permanent one on site, made out of wood  . I decided to take some fairy lights to keep in the festive spirit. JJ's shed looked like Santas Grotto

The next image is of four forlorn tents. You can't see but I can assure you it was pouring with rain.

The mounts for the weekend were 3 12v Cubs, a Diversion 600 (Swim has temporarily lost the Cub love) and a seventies CD175 which JJ is fettling for a foreign trip.

All went well till Wigan Bob's back wheel...

New Years Eve run 2008

Four hardy, Northern souls ( people, not music).

No lets start again.

Four Northern imbeciles decided it would be a good idea for a run out on New Years Eve. Well we have done it for the past two years, so why not again? One very good reason, would, of perhaps been the weather. However it's never stopped us before.
Meeting point, as for a lot of our foolhardy jaunts, was CubStigs palatial abode. I was first to turn up on the V90. It had run really well for the first twenty or so miles, then carb icing was becoming a bit of a issue. It was a combination of very low temperature and fog. However I made it ok, all the way up the M6 again (no police escort this time ).
Russ and myself had a coffee and not long after Boo turned up on his BSA 650, oh sorry his Cub. It just sounded like a 650 as he had reverted back to his 'old' baffle less exhaust system. He said it matched his new/old back wheel. Which I suppose it did.

His bike was running as rough as a...

2nd Annual Mild Hogs Meet

A weekend of Punctures, drink, small mishaps, big mishaps, more drinking and gasmasks??

Just to start off, what a fantastic weekend, it was really nice to meet all the new faces.

The Lancs contingent were to meet at Bodders house at 9.30ish on the Friday. Swim41 turned up first as planned and we were straight into changing the front brake shoes as his front brake efficiency was less than nil. Russ and JJ turned up and we were just waiting for Boo. We were all tucking into a Bodder breakfast. I have to say the sight of JJ in his flying goggles with the moustache sewn to it was hiarious and on the way down got some very very strange looks. Dead funny. Anyway, the phone rang, twas Boo broken down with a puncture to the rear tyre.  He had a repair kit but no pump. Luckily he was only just round the corner from where I work so I rang up and a man was despatched to arrest the situation. Boo turned up about half an hour later.
The trip down was fine except for a downpour with about 30mls to go....

The Scotland Trip 2008

For the uninitiated I'm sorry for the following account. For the initiated I truly, truly am sorry for the following account.
A sobering (not) tale of the famous five going North.
The planned trip to Scotland has been in the offing for some time now. Various plans had been made and unmade as to where to go and what to do.
It was finally decided that myself, Nige, JJ, Russ and Swim41 would head for Scotland and see what came our way. So the plan was, that ther was no plan, just wing it and see what happens.
The only real plan was for Nige to travel up from South Wales, stay at mine on Friday night and travel up to meet the others at JJ's house early Sat a.m.
I had tried to book accomodation around the Loch Lomond area but could find no where that could take all five of us, would you?. It was also quite expensive around that area. I managed to book us into a guest house in Dunoon for the first night.
Nige duly arrived and at about 8.00pm I get a phone call from Russ. 'Houston we...
